HORTUS will “pay back” its creation energy within a generation, i.e. less than 30 years. On the one hand, this is achieved by keeping the total energy used to a minimum thanks to the use of unusual materials such as wood, clay and waste paper. On the other hand, the energy harvest is maximised via photovoltaics. “The HORTUS will be a source of energy – both creative and factual solar energy with an attitude that combines tech and nature, stimulates science and utopia and exemplifies sustainability not only ecologically, but also humanely and socially,” says Johannes Eisenhut, Managing Director of Senn Development AG. This short film launches a continuous documentation of the project.
